Admittedly, my expectations of this Tudor romp were quite low: I wanted little more than Eric Bana looking delicious in tight breaches and not much else. To that end I enjoyed The Other Boleyn Girl, but agree it could have been rompier.
This is more of a bodice tugger, the only thing ripped asunder are the reputations of the Boleyn children (Anne, Mary and George) and the mores of the day.
The Other Boleyn Girl offers: Bana brooding; Scarlett Johansson simpering; Eddie Redmayne whining; Natalie Portman grimacing; David Morrissey bristling; and Kristin Scott Thomas suffering (mostly through the lackluster script).
For a far more satisfying look at the machinations of the Boleyn family wriggling their way into Henry Tudor’s court and our history pages, I suggest a timely look at The Tudors which is is every bit as salacious as The Other Boleyn Girl teased.

The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) d. Justin Chadwick
Quite true that we were teased. Scarlett Jo is just divine and I was promised buxom wenches, and I was left disappointed. Eddy has shown promise before, but apart from his top lip blubbering I was not impressed.
